The online cycling community
The Project
Velonest combined an online marketplace and a community for cycling enthusiasts in one platform made up of marketplace, forum and blog. The art lay in interlocking trade and exchange so that the community’s flows of information and goods worked together smoothly.
On a modern full stack of open-source technologies, a well-thought-out portal emerged where buying, selling and talking shop came together seamlessly.
The Challenge
A marketplace, a forum and a blog address different user groups, and that was exactly the difficulty. Buyers want to reach offers quickly, debaters their topic, readers new content. All functions had to be brought together so that the exchange of information and goods flows smoothly, without overloading the platform or losing one of the groups.
Our Technologies
PHP and Laravel formed the backend, the interface was built with Bootstrap, jQuery and early Vue components. MySQL held marketplace, forum and blog data together, Redis accelerated recurring queries, and automated backups protected the community data. The platform ran classically on an Apache stack, and the full stack of open-source technologies could be extended easily as new functions were added.
